INTRODUCTION


     Every student of University Malaysia Kelantan in 3rd semester who took Travel and Tour Management subject (HTS 20103) is required to carry out an assignment for the semester. In a group of 7 to 8 people with a leader who was chosen by the group members, should choose and take a visit to a well-known travel agency in Kelantan or Terengganu areas and study on the product development and business environment at a particular organization. As that, my team members and I from class K202D (L1), Dr. Roslizawati Binti Che Aziz as our lecturer, carried out this assignment which should be submitted on the 11th week of the semester.

     The aim of this project is to identify different opportunities and ideas for the development of new travel agency products compared to older products. Present market trends towards new technologies and concepts caused us to focus on a practicable and effective business strategy by offering new product ideas and improving existing products with the potential for future growth and expansion. The study is based on qualitative data and secondary data is based on the value of the Travel agency business strategy and the overall significance of brand strategies. The understanding of their competition and services by the customer along with their future goals is evaluated empirically predicting the future market. This project's main theoretical perspectives are concentrated on method analysis of production and priority is on the product.

     The main objective of this assignment is to evaluate the understanding and knowledge of travel agency business principles and methods used by students. Secondly, this assignment teaches people the latest tourism and travel developments and activities. This assignment also has an objective to explain the various departments and what is the responsibility of each department and how they operate as one of the best travel agencies and also to develop adequate knowledge and skills applicable to travel industry with the new product development strategy.

BACKGROUND OF THE COMPANY 

        The company Al-Ilmi Travel And Tours Sdn Bhd was established in 2005. The main activity at the beginning of its establishment was to be a partner in the company that operates the Umrah Package. Now after 8 years of its founding, Al-Ilmi Travel has its own License (KPK / LN 7443 for inbound, outbound and ticketing) and produces its own travel products. Apart from Umrah, Al-Ilmi Travel also operates its own Overseas tourism activities such as Turkey, China, Korea, Vietnam and others. To date, Al-Ilmi travel has over 50 representatives / agents nationwide.



BACKGROUND OF COMPANY IN KELANTAN (Al-ILMI TRAVEL & TOURS)

     Al-Ilmi Travel and Tours Sdn. Bhd is one of the famous travel agency in Kelantan. The headqauters of the agency is at Ampang and the official address is No.32-1, Jalan AWF 3, Ampang Water Front, 68000 Ampang, Selangor. The agency will be operating from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on every Monday till Friday and the operating hours on every Saturday will be at 9 a.m. till 1 p.m. Al- Ilmi Travel and Tours Sdn. Bhd was established on the year of 2005. The main activity at the beginning of the establishment was to be a partner in the company that operates the Umrah Package. This agency actually has its own license (KPK / LN 7443 for inbound, outbound and ticketing and has started producing its own tourism products after 8 years of existence. Futhermore, Al-Ilmi Travel and Tours conduct their own overseas tourism activities such as Turkey, China, Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Iran and others. But so far there is no tourism activities conducted around our country. Adding on, they has over 50 representatives or also known as agents nationwide.

      There are few advantages of Umrah with Al-Ilmi Travel and Tours. Firstly, we could appreciate the Adventure of Science and Charity with a number of tazkirah programs. All the participants will be given enough course before a trip to the Holy Land. Each Umrah package will be followed by an experienced Religious Teacher as the Umrah Guide. Moreover, the distance between hotel accommodation and illegal mosque is just 150-400 meters away. On the other hand, the tourists could enjoy a picnic in the desert with Arab rice meal prayers of pilgrimage and tazkirah from the mosque teachers. The other advantages of Umrah with Al-Ilmi Travel and Tours would be that the tourists will be guided by mutawifs and will be headed by the head of a delegation from Malaysia throughout Mekah and Madinah.

STRENGTHS,STRATEGIES AND WEAKNESS

STRENGTHS/ POTENTIALS OF THE COMPANY

To run a successful business, you should regularly analyse your processes to ensure you are operating as efficiently as possible. While there are numerous ways to assess your company, one of the most effective methods is to conduct a SWOT analysis. Strengths refer to internal factors, which are the resources and experience readily available to the organization. These are some commonly considered internal factors for example, location, facilities and equipment.

Strengths is the element that addresses things that your company or project does especially well. This could be something intangible, such as your company’s brand attributes, or something more easily defined such as the unique selling proposition of a particular product line. It could also be your people, your literal human resources: strong leadership, or a great engineering team. Al-Ilmi Travel Agency strengths is that they provide a low budget umrah package as low as RM4990 compared to other travel agency where they put a price for Umrah package around RM5950. Additionally, Al-Ilmi also offer an Umrah Package includes Jordan and Baitulmaqdis at a price for only RM8470 per adult.

Al-Ilmi Travel Agency also hold a motto “Pelancongan Murah Lagi Berkualiti” which is meaning Travel with cheap price but high quality. Therefore, in Umrah package Al-Ilmi also provide an expert Mutawwif that had been appointed by the Ministry to guide for the needs, saftey and well-being of Hajj pilgrims. Furthermore, all participants will be given adequate courses before traveling and each Umrah Package will be accompanied by an experienced Religious Teacher as Umrah Guide before heading to destination. To enhance the experience of Al Ilmi’s participants, they get a chance to enjoy a picnic in the desert with a local traditional Arab food.

However, Al-Ilmi did not cover branches for all state in Malaysia and Ampang is for only Headquarters. Al-Ilmi only have 3 branches which is in Hulu Langat and Kota Bharu. Therefore, for opportunities analysis Al-Ilmi should open their branch for all state to compete with other travel agency. It is because Al-Ilmi had a great opportunity to competes for price as well as quality service. Furthermore, Al-Ilmi should focus on domestic’s package whereas Al-Ilmi did not provide it. According to the person in charge, they did not plan anything on domestics, but they focus more on Europe tour. Therefore, Al-Ilmi should have grab the opportunities to attract domestics travellers who wanted to use Al-Ilmi services in terms of domestic tours.


STRATEGIES/ APPROACHED APPLIED BY THE COMPANY TO SURVIVE IN THIS INDUSTRY


          Strategies is needed for organization to be able to achieve goals. Therefore, strategies are important to an association since it can provide a general vital course to the administration of the association and provides a particular guidance to territories like monetary system, promoting methodology, authoritative improvement technique and HR procedure, to make progress in execution. 

            According to the interview, Al-Ilmi stated that they actively promote their packages through websites, advertisement, brochure or any social media platform. Therefore, these kinds of promotion often used by any organization in order to gain profit and sell their packages to the clients. Al-Ilmi also stated that they held an event through their social media such as yearly luck draw, free gift according to their umrah packages in order to attract client’s attention. Additionally, Al-Ilmi often use social media to do free courses every Saturday or Sunday through broadcast live via FB LIVE. It is convenient for participants who did not have time to attend courses before they go for umrah.

            Next, Al-Ilmi also uses a common strategy where they are lowering their price packages to compete with other travel agency. In fact, Al-Ilmi provides an umrah cheapest budget packages which is more affordable compared to other travel agency and these kinds of package is not provided by any travel agency. Additionally, pricing strategies play such an important role to compete because normally, customers tend to find the best prices and to fulfil basic needs and wants simultaneously. 

TYPES OF PRODUCT AND SERVICE PROVIDED AND INTERNATIONAL PACKAGES

What is Tourism Product? Tourism product can define as things that can be offered to the tourists to visit a tourist destination. The product can class as leisure, pleasure, religious or business needs. Besides, the tourism product is also class as Tourism Oriented Products (TOP), Residents Oriented Products (ROP), and intangible products.
Al-ilmi Travel & tours Sdn Bhd only provide international package such as travel to Umrah, Aceh, Lombok, Guangzhou and Shenzhen and others package. To fulfil the need and wants of the customer, Al-ilmi Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd had offered full-board package and half-board package for evey single package which has offer by them. Each of the package has the classification and it is also differencing in services and price. For example, Umrah has class as budget package, silver plus package, gold plus package, and economy plus package. What is the difference between budget package and gold plus package? The differences between the package is in terms of price, travel date,hotels, meals provided during the trip. For example, the budget package travel to Umrah has included 3 meals in a day while the gold plus package only included breakfast. To make more differences between budget package and gold plus package, Al-ilmi Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd has offer a free visit to “Taif” for those who had purchase for gold plus package to Umrah.
What is Service? Service can relate as services which provides by the tour operator services, tour guide services, travel agency, hotels, restaurants, catering, and other related services. The services which has offered by Al-ilmi Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd are reservation, guided tours and transport facilities. The customer who has purchase full-board package can enjoy the transportation such as a grab car transfer the customer from airport to hotel in two way. Besides, Al-ilmi Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd is also provided guided tours for customers, they can know about the activities that will undergo during the travel journey. This is because Al-ilmi Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd will send the tour itinerary to the customers at least one day early before they travel, so the customer has a mindset about the travel scheduled.

l  Package Umrah that provide 12 days 10 nights that costs RM6570 per persons. It is also have two types of umrah which is like Umrah Gold and Umrah Gold Plus. The differents of this types is just a accomodation that near from Mekah.

1. Jordan Palestines provide 8 days 6 night, costs RM6690 per person (fullboard)
2. Iran provide 10 days 7 nights, costs RM4477 per person(fullboard)
3. Mesir provide 11 days 8 nights, costs RM5790 per person(full board)
4. Pakistan provide 9 days 7 nights, costs RM4977 per person(full board)

l  Packages From Asia which is;
1.        Jeju provides 4 days 3 nights, costs RM2677 per person(full board)
2.        Korea Nami Island provides 6 days 4 nigh, costs RM2977 per person(full board)
3.        Delhi Jaipur Taj Mahal provides 7 days 5 nights,costs RM3777 per person (full board)
4.        Uzbekistan provides 8 days 6 nights, costs RM4677 per person (full board)

1.        Turki provides 9 days 7 nights, costs RM3877 per person (full board)

Al-Ilmi Travel And Tours Sdn Bhd company was established in 2005. The main activity at the beginning of its establishment was to be a partner in the company that operates the Umrah Package. Now after 8 years of its founding, Al-Ilmi Travel has its own License (KPK / LN 7443 for inbound, outbound and ticketing) and produces its own travel products. Apart from Umrah, Al-Ilmi Travel also operates its own Overseas tourism activities such as Turkey, China, Korea, Vietnam and others. To date, Al-Ilmi travel has over 50 representatives / agents nationwide. The keys to Al Ilmi Travel and Tours success will undoubtedly be effective market segmentation through identification of several niche markets and implementation strategies. Along these lines the company intends to implement advertising, personal selling and direct marketing strategies to the target markets. Our personal selling marketing strategies will rotate around keeping in touch with hotels and travel agencies for major customers, and advertising for more individual customers. Hence our key success factors will include the following:

1.      Excellence in fulfilling the promise:
 We intend to offer completely enjoyable, comfortable and informative travel excursions that will ensure that travellers are thoroughly satisfied and appreciative at the end of their trip.

2.      Timely response to customers' requests:
 We cannot afford to delay our clients for whatever reason, as this will have a negative bearing on our image and reputation, including future business. Hence, we need to be continually communicating with the client, including hotels and lodges to ensure that we are constantly available to the client meeting their expectations.

3.      Solid and fruitful strategic alliances:
 Considering the nature of our services and our relative infancy on the market, we realize the importance of establishing and maintaining fruitful strategic alliances with various stakeholders, including hotels, lodges, and travel agencies, amongst others, so as be assured of a constant flow of customers, fulfilling their needs at every opportunity.

4.      Marketing know-how:
 As a relatively new company on the market there will be a need to aggressively market our business and the services we provide to be continuously at the top of our prospective client’s minds. This will also act as a temporary deterrent for companies contemplating entering our market. Advertising shall be undertaken on a regular basis.

Services and products provided by Al Ilmi Travel and Tours will initially include pre-arranged tours, custom packages according to client’s specifications, travel consultation, and as time progresses making reservations for lodging amongst other related services. Al Ilmi Travel and Tours seeks to differentiate itself as the premier adventure travel company in the industry. The speciality of umrah with AL ILMI TRAVEL that was prepared by them are the Appreciation of the Science and Charity travel with some tzkirah programs. Besides each participant will be given adequate courses before traveling to the Holy Land. Each Umrah Package will be accompanied by an experienced Religious Teacher as the Umrah Guide. The distance between hotel and illegal mosque is only 150-400meter, get to enjoy a picnic in the desert with a barbecue dinner. Prayers of pilgrimage, tahlil and tazkirah from the mosque teachers with Guide by mutawifs from Malaysia throughout Mecca and Medina. This also included led by the head of a delegation from Malaysia throughout Mecca and Medina.
